Getting there ...
Muir Woods National Monument is located 12 miles north of the Golden gate Bridge, San Francisco.
It is about one-hour driving from my home in Los Altos. The road of the last few miles to the park
are pretty steep and winding. We got there just before noon, and the nearby parking lot were almost
full. The weather in the park is cool, shaded, and moist all year round.
- Redwood Canyon Loop Walks
It is an easy walk on a paved trail in the Redwood canyon. Four bridges along Redwood Creek make
short loopp walks possible. It is a good place to have a walk and enjoy the forest.
- Fern Creek Trail -- Ocean View Trail
We took a hike up the hill from the Fern Creek Trail, and back to the Redwood Canyon Loop from
the Ocean View Canyon (although we didn't see the ocean). It was moderate to strenuous when
we were heading uphill, but it became much easier when we were on the Ocean View Trail.
- Muir Beach
Muir Woods is a pleasant place to walk and hike. It should be very comfortable
especially on a hot summer day. I'm sure we'll come back to visit here much more
often in the future.
