Woanyu and Iris have flown back to Taiwan a few days earlier since Iris has
started a summer intern in New Taipei City.  Good thing for Linus to fly
with me was that he can also get upgraded to Business Class on the United
flight...

    - 6/27 -- Train to New Taipei City

	- 6/27 -- Teppanyaki dinner

	- 6/28 -- Sanxia (三峽)
Sanxia is a traditional, suburban district
in New Taipei City. It is mainly known for its tourism street, known as
	Sanxia Old Street (三峽老街),
and the Qingshui Zushi Temple (清水祖師廟).

	- 6/28 -- Din Tai Feng (鼎泰豐)
Din Tai Feng is probably the most
famous dumpling restaurant in the world.  Originally founded as a
cooking oil retail business in 1958, Din Tai Fung was reborn as a steamed
dumpling and noodle restaurant in 1972. Today, Din Tai Fung has branches in
Japan, the United States, South Korea, Singapore, China, Hong Kong,
Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, and Thailand. Din Tai Fung is now giving
people throughout the world the opportunity to experience a classic “taste
	of Taiwan.”
We were dropped off at Din Tai Feng in Banqiao before 5:30PM
so we could avoid the long waiting line.
	- 6/29 -- Connexpedition @ Zhong
	He Junior High School
The Connexpedition program aims to give
Chinese-American young adults meaningful service-learning opportunities
combined with leadership development and cultural exchange.  Iris will
start her volunteer work for the next 3 weeks to teach English (their
	photo blog)

  - 6/29 -- Viewshow Cinemas
Watching movie is always a good way to kill time.  Linus, Woanyu, and I
went to Viewshow to see "The
Legend of Tarzan" in the late afternoon.  Every time we came here, we
were always amazed by the Taipei 101
  nearby.

	- 6/30 -- National Palace Museum,
	Southern Branch (NPMSB), Chiayi (故宮南院)
We took the High Speed Rail
from Taipei to Chiayi to visit the Southern Branch of Palace Museum.
The NPMSB was approved in 2004 and originally scheduled for completion in
2008.  It was later postponed as a result of contractual disputes
as well as the Typhoon Morakot.  On Oct. 22, 2010, the project revision
plan was completed and the building of the Southern Branch Museum was
reinitiated.  Finally, the Southern Branch Museum was open for trial
	operation on Dec. 28, 2015.
The highlight of this visit was to see the
	special exhibition of the Tibetan
Dragon Sutra (藏文龍藏經), hand-written in gold ink and commissioned by
Emperor Kangxi of the Qing dynasty in 1669.  The Sutra, with more than
50,000 leaves in 108 cases, was the gorgeous and solemn representations of
Buddhas and the exquisite and elegant mounting also reveal the imperial
	style and taste.

Going Home ...
	- 7/4 -- It was a short trip for Linus and me as we will fly back to US
earlier while Woanyu and Iris will continue to stay in Taiwan for ~ another
2 weeks.  The cool thing for this trip was that we got to ride the
Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has electronic
window dimmer instead of manual pull-down shade.  Now Linus and I
need to start to worry about how we can survive for 2 weeks without mommy...
