Getting there ...
We had an early morning flight at 5:30AM (so we left home before 3:30AM) from
SFO and arrived at ORD at about noon. The main purpose of this trip was to
attend Iris and Henry's wedding in Chicago.
They had planned for their wedding for more than a year (from booking the venue,
finding the dress, working with the event planner for every detail...).
Now the big day was finally here!
Day 1 (5/14) ...
- Iris's apartment
We took a Uber from the airport to Iris's the
apartment and Iris bought some bagels and sandwiches for lunch.
- Chicago Symphony
We moved to the hotel (Silversmith) in the downtown
(only one block from the Symphony Hall) in the afternoon and had a pizza
dinner together with Iris and Henry before we went to the Chicago Symphony
concert. Founded in 1891, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is
consistently hailed as one of the greatest orchestras in the world.
Today's program: Mother Goose Suite by Ravel, Gloria by Poulenc, Symphony
No. 3 in C Minor, Op.78 (Organ) by Saint-Saens, and conducted by Juraj
Valcuha.
Day 2 (5/15) ...
- Museum of Illusions Chicago
The
Museum of Illusions (MOI) has a brilliant collection of perspective-changing
rooms, enthralling installations, and spellbinding images. You enter the
fascinating world of illusions where nothing is ever quite as it seems.
The museum is located just one block from our hotel, and it was a good
attraction to have some fun.
- Chicago Downtown
We walked around the downtown area (and Woanyu
bought some clothes at a Uniqlo) after the museum visit.
- Westin Chicago North Shore
After a Japanese lunch in the downtown,
we moved to the Westin Chicago North Shore and prepared for the first
activities, ceremony rehearsal at 5PM and family/friend group dinner at 6PM.
Day 3 (5/16) ...
- Preparation at Westin
Our suite was used as girls' preparation room
for their makeup and hair. It was a busy morning (not for me...).
- Preparation at Chicago Botanic Garden
- Chicago Botanic Garden photo time
- Pre-ceremony, Cocktail party, and Banquet dinner
Day 4 (5/17) ... ...
| We had a full relaxed buffered
day today. Iris came in the morning to pick up some stuff they
left in our suite during their makeup prep session yesterday.
Now my little girl has finally grown up, and we were ready to move on to
our next destination: Great
Smoky Mountains :-) |
