Getting there ...
We just finished our Iceland trip
and would stay in New York for 2 nights to visit Linus and Miriam.
We departed from KEF Iceland at 5:00PM on 3/25 and arrived in EWR about 6 hours
later (local time 7PM). The Global Entry machine at EWR airport is really
fancy that we did not even need to use our passports.

- Starbucks
Reserve at Empire State Building
Located in the world's most iconic
building, the new Starbucks Reserve Empire State Building opened its doors
to the public on Nov. 16, 2022. Spanning 23,000 square feet and three
floors, this unique store celebrates connecting over coffee through
innovative experiences such as immersive hands-on workshops and guided
tasting flights as well as new coffee beverages and craft cocktails
I
booked a table at its Restaurant & Bar at 11AM to have a brunch
together with Linus and Miriam.
- Summit One Vanderbilt
Atop
Midtown’s tallest skyscraper, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt blends elements of art,
technology, architecture, and thrill to take the concept of “observation
deck” to entirely new heights.
I booked 1:30PM timed entrance tickets.
When we got there at ~1:15PM, we were asked to come back exactly at 1:30PM
because the line for 1:00PM was still too long. When we were back at
1:30PM, a new line for 1:30PM was formed and a long wait began. We
finally got on the elevator and rode to the observation deck at the 91st
floor after 2:15PM...
- We went to Linus' apartment in mid-town Manhattan and then had a nice
Japanese dinner together.
3/27 Going Home ...
We had an early flight from EWR back to SFO. This was a short stop at
NYC to visit Linus and was a perfect conclusion for our 12-day journey (Iceland).
